Aggregate selection used in concrete production is a critical factor that directly affects the strength, durability, and visual quality of the final product. Calcite Aggregate, namely White Dolomite Aggregate, is among the types preferred especially in premium concrete applications thanks to its high purity ratio and homogeneous structure. At Alpay Doğaltaş we supply this material to concrete producers and industrial facilities from various calcite deposits across Turkey, principally in the Saraylar region of Marmara Island.
The most important parameter that determines the technical value of Calcite Aggregate is its calcium carbonate ratio. The CaCO3 ratio of Calcite Aggregate used as a concrete additive is expected to be 98% or higher. This high purity minimizes undesired reactions in the concrete mix and provides an aggregate environment compatible with binding cement. The White Dolomite Aggregate we supply is selected from deposits that meet this criterion, classified at our partner processing facilities, and delivered to the end user.
Grain size classification is the second critical parameter that determines in which application the aggregate will be used. Three main classes are widely used in the sector. Fine aggregate in the 0-3 mm range serves as filler in ready-mix concrete mixes and screed applications. The 3-7 mm range, the medium grain class, directly contributes to concrete strength and is used especially in structural concrete production. Coarse aggregate in the 7-12 mm range is used in drainage concrete, decorative concrete, and applications that require specialty aggregate. Custom sizing outside these classes is also possible based on customer demand.
In terms of contribution to concrete strength, the homogeneous grain distribution of Calcite Aggregate offers a significant advantage. A well-graded aggregate mix reduces the void ratio inside concrete, so higher compressive strength can be achieved with less cement. This brings important gains both in terms of cost and sustainable production targets. The Calcite Aggregate we supply is widely preferred in high-strength concrete, prefabricated elements, and specialty coating concrete.
In industrial applications such as premium paint, plastics, and the glass sector, the iron oxide (Fe2O3) value becomes decisive. A low Fe2O3 ratio in the Calcite Aggregate used in these sectors preserves the whiteness and color stability of the final product. The White Dolomite Aggregate we source from the Saraylar region of Marmara Island offers a suitable alternative for these sensitive applications with its low iron content and high whiteness value. It is evaluated as a raw material source for micronized products used in glass production, white paints, and as filler material.
